Bali Honeymoon: Emerald Rice Paddies & Secret Beaches (Green Paradise Awaits!)
Bali Honeymoon: Emerald Rice Paddies & Secret Beaches (Green Paradise Awaits!) - A Chaotic, Yet Beautiful, Review
Okay, so you’re thinking Bali honeymoon, huh? Emerald Rice Paddies & Secret Beaches, they say. Green Paradise Awaits! Well, buckle up, buttercups, because after surviving (and loving!) my recent trip to Bali Honeymoon: Emerald Rice Paddies & Secret Beaches, I’m here to give you the real, unfiltered, sometimes slightly messy truth. And trust me, "Green Paradise" ain't always as picture-perfect as those Instagram filters.
First Impressions (and a near-disaster involving my luggage):
From the get-go, I'm trying to be objective. The hotel's website… oh, so dreamy! Endless photos of infinity pools, couples canoodling under palm trees, pristine beaches. BUT, let's be honest, websites LIE. Especially about the stuff you really care about. Let's start with getting there. Airport transfer was… okay. A little chaotic at first. Picture this: me, jet-lagged to hell, frantically waving at every driver holding a sign with a vaguely similar name (I swear one of them said "Bambi Honeymoon"! Wrong). Finally found the driver, bless him, who navigated the notoriously crazy Balinese traffic like a seasoned pro.
Accessibility (and my surprisingly awesome experience with the elevator):
Okay, crucial stuff. I'm not in a wheelchair, but I appreciate good accessibility, because… well, life happens, right? The good news is, there's an elevator, and it actually works. Hurrah! And not some rickety, ancient thing either. Plenty of facilities for disabled guests, which is a huge plus. I didn't see any ramps to the beach, which is a major bummer. But the elevator made getting to my room a breeze!
Rooms & Comfort (the good, the slightly less good, and the "OMG I LOVE THIS" moments):
The room? Beautiful. Seriously. Okay, maybe not exactly like the photos on the website (shocker!), but still stunning. The air conditioning was a godsend, especially after getting back from walking in the Balinese heat! The air conditioning saved my sanity (and my make-up). I had a peek at a non-smoking room. The bed wasn't as big as it looked online, But that extra long bed was divine. Plus, I could open the window that opens and had a terrace with an incredible view of the rice paddies. The bathrobes and slippers? Luxuriously fluffy. The hair dryer? Finally, a hotel hair dryer that actually DID something! The Internet access – wireless (Wi-Fi [free]) in the room was also a major bonus. I’m always glued to my phone! There was Free bottled water! They provide the essentials (and the important things). Did I mention the mirror? And just to make sure I'm clear you can't have a Bali honeymoon without a Couple's room and Room decorations. Oh! And the safety/security feature was great!
But here’s where things get a little… real. The complimentary tea? Fine. The coffee/tea maker, okay. But the mini bar? A little overpriced. I mean, $10 for a can of Coke? Come ON!
**The *Additional toilet* was a life-saver for those late-night bathroom runs.
Things to Do & Ways to Relax (Spa Bliss and the Great Pool Debacle):
Okay, time for the good stuff. The spa is a must-do. Seriously. I spent a solid three hours there, and it was pure, unadulterated bliss. First a body scrub, next a body wrap, then a massage. Pure, unadulterated heaven. Okay, okay, there was that one moment when the masseuse accidentally tickled my foot (I swear, it was a reflex!) but overall, 10/10 experience. The sauna and steamroom were excellent, and the foot bath was divine.
I did have a minor pool related incident. The swimming pool [outdoor] looked amazing – an infinity pool with view, overlooking the rice paddies. Perfect for Instagram, right? But, let's just say, I'm not the most graceful swimmer. (Cue: me, flailing around, almost swallowing half the pool).
Dining, Drinking & Snacking (From Buffets to Bottle of Waters):
The restaurants are varied. Lots of choices: Asian cuisine in restaurant, International cuisine in restaurant, and even a Vegetarian restaurant. The breakfast [buffet] was decent, with Asian breakfast. Okay, their version of eggs benedict wasn't quite, you know, eggs benedict (think: a very enthusiastic Hollandaise sauce), but the fresh fruit was amazing. The coffee shop was great for a quick pick-me-up. Room service [24-hour]! The salad in restaurant was tasty and the soup in restaurant warm and homey.
The Bar, however, was a bit disappointing. The happy hour drinks were… well, happy hour prices, but not exactly the best cocktails I've ever had. Still, the poolside bar was handy for a quick bottle of water or a snack bar bite. They also have a Bottle of water!
Cleanliness & Safety (Feeling Secure-ish):
Okay, this is important, especially these days. The hotel seemed to take hygiene seriously. They had hand sanitizer everywhere, and the staff were masked. They have Daily disinfection in common areas. I’m definitely glad for the Anti-viral cleaning products. They had Rooms sanitized between stays!
Services & Conveniences (From Concierge to the Souvenir Shop of Dreams):
They covered all the bases. The concierge was helpful. The daily housekeeping was impeccable. The laundry service was a life-saver after I accidentally spilled a smoothie (don't ask). They had a convenience store. But the real highlight? The Gift/souvenir shop! I spent way too much money there, but hey, gotta bring back those memories (and fridge magnets!). There was a convenient Cash withdrawal. And as for Staff trained in safety protocol, they did a good job. The front desk [24-hour] was always available. The luggage storage was a godsend.
For the Kids (Babysitting, Anyone?):
I didn't have kids with me, but I did notice they had family/child friendly facilities and kids facilities. There's also a babysitting service, which is great for parents looking for a romantic evening.
Getting Around (The Bali Shuffle):
Airport transfer was included, which was a bonus but as I mentioned, a bit of a shuffle at the start. Otherwise, you can get a taxi service. They also offer Car park [free of charge] and they have Car park [on-site] options!
The Quirks & Imperfections (Making it Human):
Okay, so the lighting in the room? A bit dim. The Wi-Fi sometimes gave me the runaround. And there was this one day the hot water decided to take a vacation. But, honestly, these were minor blips. Part of the Bali charm, I suppose.
The Final Verdict (Would I Go Back?):
Absolutely. Despite a few minor hiccups, this place is a slice of paradise. It's not perfect, but that's what makes it real. The staff is lovely, the location is stunning, and the spa will transform you into a puddle of relaxation.
Here's my pitch, based on the real me:
Tired of the same old honeymoon? Bali Honeymoon: Emerald Rice Paddies & Secret Beaches isn't your cookie-cutter getaway. It's a chance to get deliciously lost in emerald beauty! Imagine waking up to breathtaking rice paddy views from your luxuriously comfortable room (complete with that amazing extra-long bed!). Spend your days lounging in an infinity pool, getting pampered in a spa fit for royalty, and exploring secret beaches that'll make you feel like you've discovered your own little corner of paradise. And for the love of all that is holy, get the massage! It's worth it!
**But be warned: Bali is not all perfect. The traffic can be insane, the occasional Wi-Fi glitch is just a part of the adventure (seriously, embrace it!), and the mini-bar might give your wallet a little ouch. Despite this, this is the kind of experience that stays with you and creates memories that you’ll be regaling to anyone who stands still long enough.
Here’s what makes this honeymoon truly stand out:
- Unforgettable Experiences: Dive into relaxation with a spa day and explore the natural beauty.
- Romantic Escape: A private paradise where you can relax, connect and celebrate your love.
- A Touch of Chaos (Embrace it!): Get ready
Alright, buckle up buttercups, because this isn't your sanitized, Instagram-filtered Bali honeymoon itinerary. This is the REAL DEAL. This is how we, against all odds (and some epic mosquito bites), attempted to have a romantic, unforgettable, and slightly disastrous honeymoon in the emerald paradise that is Bali.
Honeymoon Hell Yeah: Bali, Bug Bites, and Bad Jokes (and Somehow True Love)
Day 1: Arrival & "Welcome to Paradise!" (Spoiler: Paradise has jet lag.)
Morning (ish): Land at Denpasar airport, feeling like a zombie fresh out of a coffin. The air hits you like a warm, fragrant hug… and then the jet lag punches you in the face. Immigration? A blur of paperwork and sweaty foreheads. I swear, I saw a customs officer wink at a particularly flamboyant gecko. Maybe it was the sleep deprivation.
Afternoon: Our driver, a lovely Balinese gentleman named Made, who looked like he'd seen it all (and probably had), whisked us away to our villa in Ubud. The drive? Lush, green, breathtaking. The roads? Um, let's just say they're an… experience. My beloved husband, bless his heart, kept saying, "Relax, honey! Embrace the chaos!" Embrace it? I was clutching the armrest like it was the last life raft on the Titanic.
Late Afternoon/Evening: Our villa. Sigh. It was gorgeous. Infinity pool overlooking a rice paddy, four-poster bed draped in mosquito netting, and a bathroom that was basically a jungle oasis. We were in love with the villa, and then the mosquitos got to us. We were so excited, we forgot to put on mosquito repellent. Our bodies quickly became a buffet for those pesky critters. Damn bugs. Dinner at the villa – a romantic feast of Indonesian delicacies. The food was so good, it almost eclipsed the fact that I found a REALLY big spider on my sandals as I was about to put them on. The rest of the evening was a blur of scratching, swatting, and trying – and failing – to stay awake.
Day 2: Ubud Adventures & Monkey Mayhem (and a Near-Death Experience in a Rice Paddy)
Morning: Tegalalang Rice Terraces. OMG. The view. The perspective. The perfect opportunity for a romantic photo shoot. (We did get some good shots, but my husband's attempt to pose dramatically almost resulted in him falling off a ledge. He’s got the heart of a thespian, but lacks the grace). Afterwards, we were so enamored, we almost forgot the heat.
Afternoon: The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary. Cute monkeys, RIGHT? Wrong. I'm not sure what I expected from the Monkeys, but I was not exactly expecting a monkey to sit on my head in the middle of a crowded trail. Then, my husband tried to take a picture of me with the monkey, and he almost tripped and fell in a ditch. We were both running around, laughing and crying and terrified.
Evening: Cooking class. This was a highlight! Learning to make Rendang and Gado-Gado was magical. We were so smitten from the class, we would have done anything. We were starting to feel more connected, more comfortable, more us.
Day 3: Gili Trawangan: Beach Bliss & Boat Blues
Morning: The highlight of the trip was supposed to be our escape to the Gili Islands. The island of Gili Trawangan for sunsets, snorkeling, and a truly idyllic escape… except. I booked the fast boat. Let me rephrase that - I booked the "fast boat" (quotes intended). A "fast boat" that turned out to be a glorified bouncy castle with a death wish. The seas were rough, the waves were enormous, and I swear I saw the captain praying to Poseidon. I vomited in a bag, my makeup streamed down my face, and my husband, bless him, tried to comfort me while simultaneously looking like he was about to lose his own lunch.
Afternoon: We finally made it to Gili T. We were relieved to get to the shore, collapsed on the beach, and decided some Bintang and sunbathing were the only things to do. The beach was beautiful, the water was crystal clear, and the trauma of the boat ride slowly began to fade.
Evening: Sunset. On Gili T. Utterly breathtaking. We watched the sun melt into the ocean, painting the sky in fiery hues. We actually forgot we were still slightly seasick. This was the beginning of "romantic".
Day 4: Gili T Adventure, Snorkeling, and Sunset (Take 2)
Morning: Snorkeling trip! We snorkeled with massive sea turtles – a truly magical experience. The water was unbelievably clear. It was the total opposite of the boat ride.
Afternoon: We rented bikes and cycled around the island. We got horribly lost and ended up on a deserted beach with a broken bicycle. Exhausted, hot, and slightly sunburned, we collapsed in fits of laughter.
Evening: Dinner. The sunsets here are ridiculous, in the best possible way.
Day 5: Back to Ubud & Spiritual Awakening? (Maybe).
Morning: Another, and more terrifying "fast boat" ride, back to Bali.
Afternoon: We headed to the Tirta Empul Temple. The holy water cleansing was a bit of a culture shock. We got the full experience, and I definitely felt…something. Maybe it was the water. Maybe it was the spirituality. Maybe it was just the fact that I was finally clean after the boat ride.
Evening: Dinner at a Warung. We ate some authentic dishes and laughed a lot at how terrible the day was.
Day 6: Uluwatu Sunset & Dance of Joy (and More Mosquito Bites)
Afternoon: Head to Uluwatu Temple. The ocean views and the temple architecture were amazing. We watched the Kecak fire dance, a mesmerizing performance against the backdrop of the setting sun. I may or may not have cried.
Evening: Another night of mosquito madness. Why!?
Day 7: Departure - Hasta la vista, Bali! (Until Next Time, Hopefully)
Morning: The last breakfast by the pool. The last cup of Bali coffee, the last tropical fruit.
Afternoon: Back to the airport, another flight of hell. It was a whirlwind of emotion, a rollercoaster of sun, sea, and… well, more mosquito bites than I care to admit. But, even with the bumps, the bruises, and the near-death experiences, it was wonderful. We spent a week in Bali in a crazy, messy, perfect embrace.
So, if you're planning a honeymoon, embrace the chaos. Pack extra bug spray. And for the love of all that is holy, don't book the fast boat. You might just survive. And, who knows, you might even fall more in love.
